Adventures on the South Island

A bumpy ferry ride brought us across to the South Island for a few days of spectacular roadtripping and a generally amazing whirlwind tour of the South.

Entering the Marlborough Sounds.

Shan, Bella and Gail.

Jay & I.

A short drive out of picturesque Picton we entered the most beautiful sweeping countryside.

The moody and dramatic shot.

And the smile to send home for Karl.

I wasnt able to catch the lush beauty of the forests we drove through, but if you could imagine the untouched wildernis in the darkest of greens...

Team dynamite before a helicopter ride across the glaciers.

View of the river flowing out to the sea beyond.

A few years ago, the fox glacier came all the way down the valley to this point where the last chunks of ice now melt away.

A piece of melting glacier.

Glacial pools reflecting the rough landscapes above.

Sunrise breaking over the horizon as we winded our way back to catch the ferry home.

Simply spectacular.

Picton.
