Sailing to Panama

Six days of open ocean sailing, which wasnt as much sailing as we had hoped for as the winds died down to occassional gentle headwinds! Amazing school of dolphins leaping through the air, too excited to get it on camera. Otherwise, lots and lots of open water and a great couple of days to get some reading in!

Mark and Theo bringing in a tuna on the handline which was a delicious dinner! One day we managed to catch two and a third tuna in less than an hour - the third we brought in was probably the largest of the tuna with two massive bite marks that took the most of it! Can only imagine what took the nibbles..

About two days into our trip we spent a few hours dodging drift wood, clumps of hyacinth and even whole palm trees that appeared to be washed out to sea in a flash floods. They also brought with them swarms of mosquitoes that infested the boat and led us to extreme measures in order to avoid being eaten alive!

A raincloud approaching Panama as we came in this morning. Tropical downpours provide a nice relief from the heat, except for when you on watch at two in the morning!

The closer we got to Panama, the more container ships we started to cross paths with. They really make you feel quite small in comparison!
